Doesn't feel like much of a summer, does it, Calgary?
Southern Alberta's summer has felt not only cold and wet, but also very disappointing.
However, the weather may not be the problem. Maybe it's that we are setting our expectations too high?
Environment Canada senior climatologist Dave Phillips told the CBC Eyeopener Thursday morning the weather has been pretty much average in Calgary this summer, and our perception of a cold summer may be because the season came on the heels of a cold spring.
"It's getting to the point where you actually felt you were owed good weather and nature doesn't do things that way."

This summer's high came June 2 when temperatures soared to 33 C. But since the hot Canada Day long weekend, Phillips said afternoon temperatures have been just "a tad cooler than normal."
He explained this summer's evenings have been warmer than usual - meaning we are experiencing warmer temperatures, just at a time when people sleeping.
"If you add up all those warm nights and cool days it comes out so close to normal," he said.
The cool weather, peppered with almost daily thunderstorms and rain showers, is definitely affecting attendance at Calgary's public pools.
Weather, combined with the devastating floods to hit Calgary in June, means numbers are down and time is running out.
"If there are losses, that will be on the community association to swallow those costs," Mike Gavan, executive director for the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pools Association, told the Calgary Herald last week.
Mount Pleasant's pool, for example, is down about $10,000 in revenue from where it was last year, reports the Calgary Sun.
Calgarians, however, can take comfort in the fact that while autumn will likely come much too soon, their province has the most comfortable year-round climate and is home to some of the country's sunniest locales.
Now go dig out those toques and boots.
