Skiers and snowboarders, rejoice. Everyone else, wallow.
Snow was spotted in Alberta's Rocky Mountains and along the foothills Wednesday, as temperatures across the province dipped drastically.
Summer technically isn't over for two more days, but the snow is falling hard on ski hills in Southern Alberta, including Sunshine Village, Castle and Lake Louise ski resorts.
According to Environment Canada, most of the province saw rain Wednesday, but in Pincher Creek, Carstairs and Blairmore the wet turned to white, briefly.
Tanya Otis, a spokeswoman for Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort, told the Calgary Herald about two centimetres has fallen since this morning.
“It looks impressive,” she said. “It’s actually accumulating.”
While temperatures dipped below 10 C Wednesday, the chill is not expected to last long, with Environment Canada forecasting a high of 17 C for Calgary on Thursday and rising temperatures into the weekend.
However, despite the forecast for sunnier skies and warmer weather, most Albertans remained unimpressed at the thought of early snow.
