Valentine's Day Idea: Try A Double Date To Reignite Relationship Flames

This Could Add A Spark To Your Stale Relationship: Study

(Relaxnews) - A new study shows that double dating can add spark to a stale relationship. This Valentine’s Day, consider ditching the dinner for two and adding another couple to the mix to reignite the flames.

According to the findings out of a Wayne State University study, double dating was shown to help couples feel higher levels of passion and see their partner in a new and positive light.

This was particularly true of those who were asked to share more personal and deeper personal information like their most embarrassing experiences.

A relationship expert from online dating site Match.com has also come up with a list of good reasons on why double dating can strengthen couples’ relationships, while eHarmony.com offers a few tips on how to double date wisely.

Here’s a selection of reasons to double date as well as dating tips.

It’s all about perspective

The banality of everyday life -- bills, kids and housework -- can sometimes erase all memory of your partner’s personality in the social, real-world setting, says Match.com. But watching your partner captivate another couple with a knack for storytelling or by cracking a funny joke can help you see your partner in a new -- or renewed -- light.

Activity

Make sure to choose a group-friendly activity that facilitates conversation and bonding, suggest experts at eHarmony. Activities like bowling, cooking, dance classes or dinner are interactive and facilitate getting to know one another.

Choose your friends wisely

Just like a potential date, couples are advised to choose their new duo with care. Ask out a couple whose relationship you admire, for instance, or a couple that shares the same interest. Moreover, choose a happy couple as they’re much more fun to be around, points out eHarmony.

Reinforces your relationship

When out on a double date, invariably couples will discuss experiences they’ve shared, whether it be a favorite travel destination or favorite restaurant. The result, says Match.com, is that couples may end the evening reminded of fond memories of their time spent together.
