Joannie Rochette's Tweet About Patrick Chan Misinterpreted, She Says

Rochette Explains Tweet About Chan Wasn't In Bad Taste

Calm down, everyone. Former Olympic figure skater Joannie Rochette did not insult a fellow athlete, says she.

Rochette received a lot of angry replies on Twitter Friday when she tweeted in French about the performance of Canadian skater Patrick Chan, who won silver in the mens' program.

Many people responded to Rochette's tweet, which translates to "He had gold on a silver platter. He took the platter" by saying it was in bad taste to mock Chan.

But Rochette says that her commentary was a play on words that was lost in translation. She was also tweeting in support of the silver medalist before and after his performance.

But still more people took issue with the tweet.

Guess not everyone remembers the lessons from their core French classes.

What do you think? Was Rochette's tweet rude or just fair commentary from a former Olympian?
