The Brit Awards, sandwiched between the Grammys and the Junos, are Great Britain's celebration of the past year in music.

While there are some British artists little-known to music fans on this side of the pond, most of the attendees have made a big splash here, from breakouts like One Direction, Ellie Golding and Jessie J to retro stars like Kylie Minogue and Boy George to hipster faves like Katie B, Laura Mvula and Arctic Monkeys.

Plus, plenty of international guests take trans-Atlantic flights to the party, too, like Katy Perry, Bruno Mars and Pharell as well as America's queen Beyonce and prince, er, Prince.

The winners go to a mix of British and international acts, as well, which led to both David Bowie and Lorde amazingly picking up Brits despite their 50 year age difference. The full Brits' winners list is below the slideshow.
