NHL Player Collapses On Bench

Dallas Stars player Rich Peverley was rushed to hospital after collapsing on the bench during a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night.

The game was stopped in the first period as Peverley's teammates gathered around the bench to check on the centreman, who was taken to hospital and was conscious, CBS News reported.

The Stars updated Peverley's condition via the team's Twitter account:

Peverley missed training camp and the start of the regular season when he underwent a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, NHL.com reported.

The latest incident spawned the hashtag "#Prayforpeverley" in which Twitter users extended their best wishes to the player:
