It turns out Calgarians are pretty lousy tippers, despite the fact many enjoy high wages and plenty of disposable income.
A new study by mobile payment company Square found that Calgarians are the stingiest tippers when compared to other major Canadian cities.
Calgarians come in last place in the gratuity department, tipping only 59.4 per cent of the time, at 13.3 per cent.
Ottawans, on the other hand, took home top tipping honours, adding a gratuity 76.6 per cent of the time, with an average tip of 15.6 per cent.
Montreal came in second place, tipping 70. 4 per cent of the time at 14.4 per cent, while Torontonians tip 65.5 per cent of the time, at 14.5 per cent, and Vancouverites are tipping 62 per cent of the time at 13.4 per cent.
The survey results are based on information collected from credit card transactions of more than 52,000 Canadian businesses who use Square's service, and determined down to a list of the country's five largest cities.
