German Shepherd Saves Best Friend Chihuahua From Coyote Attack

Dog BFF Saved This Little Guy's Life

In today's adorable animal news, a German shepherd saved his best friend, a little chihuahua min pin mix, from a dangerous coyote attack in Kelowna, B.C.

Little Pepe was minding his own business in his Okanagan backyard when he was attacked by coyotes. He probably would have died if his trusted pal, a three-year-old german shepherd named Turbo, hadn't come to his rescue.

“All of the sudden we heard Turbo barking, and we came out and two or three coyotes had attacked Pepe," the dogs' owner Daria Gagnon told Castanet.net. "They were going round and round, and if the Shepherd hadn't moved in on them to defend him ... he saved his life."

Little Pepe required three hours of surgery and 37 stitches after the attack. He had 24 puncture wounds, one eye was bulging from his head, and one ear was dangling by a flap of skin.

But he's alive, and that's all thanks to his best pal.
