Brazilian star Neymar's ambition to play in a World Cup final won't be realized this year, but that doesn't mean his dreams have been dashed completely.
The forward appeared emotional in a video posted to YouTube by the Brazilian Football Confederation on Saturday.
In it, Neymar said he still expects his teammates to win in the end, and help him achieve his dream of being a World Cup champion.
Just one day earlier, he sustained a fractured vertebra after he took a knee to the back from defender Juan Zuniga in a quarter-final match against Colombia. The injury forced him out of the tournament.
Neymar's injury isn't the only bad news for Brazil as they prepare to face Germany in the semifinal on Tuesday. They'll also be without defender Thiago Silva as the team captain was suspended after he received a yellow card in the quarterfinal.
Brazil tried to appeal against the suspension, but FIFA's disciplinary committee wouldn't hear it, The Guardian reported.
We find out tomorrow whether Neymar's inspirational message is enough to carry the host nation through to the final.
