"Making a Scene" is an AOL On Originals series featuring actor, director and film-buff James Franco. Each week, Franco will take his passion for movies and mash up two of cinema's most iconic flicks in only a way he can imagine.

If you're a fan of James Franco, you know he's a lot more than just an actor on the silver screen. He's a director, he's starred on Broadway, guest-starred in a soap opera, was nominated for an Oscar, hosted the Oscars (more on that later), dabbled in writing, poetry and even has a stint as a university professor.

But if you're less familiar with his work, you may know Franco from his much-publicized antics. How can we forget the time he tried to pick up a 17-year-old fan, or when posted a semi-naked selfie to Instagram? But much like Shakespeare's Hamlet, there seems to be a craft behind his madness — how else would you be able to pull movie mashups like "Beetlejuice" and "Batman" or remix the silent films of the 1920s with a classic like "Taxi Driver"?

This week, James take an unlikely "What if" scenario: What happens when Quentin Tarantino's ultra-violent "Reservoir Dogs" and Emile Ardolino's romantic "Dirty Dancing" hit the blood-soaked dance floor together?

Franco's public persona is one that doesn't hold back, likes to make a strong first impression and doesn't shy away from controversy. Watch the video above and you'll see what we're talking about. And for Franco's most absurd moments, check out the list below.
