Taylor Kitsch says he's been cast in season two of HBO's "True Detective."

The Canadian-born star of "Friday Night Lights" confirmed his role in an interview with Adweek, though the website cited sources saying a deal hasn't been finalized yet.

Kitsch, 33, would be the third cast member for the second season of the dark HBO series after Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn were confirmed to star.

Sources had previously told The Hollywood Reporter Kitsch was in talks to feature in the series.

The new season will revolve around three policemen and a "career criminal" who "must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder," said an HBO news release.

Reports indicate that Farrell will play a detective, while Vaughn will portray the career criminal who faces "losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner."

Eight episodes will be filmed over four to five months, Farrell said in an earlier interview.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto will return as the show's writer, while "Fast and Furious" director Justin Lin will helm its first two episodes.

Season two is expected to premiere next summer, Entertainment Weekly said.
