Rogers and Shaw have entered the world of streaming content with Shomi, their offering of TV and movies. Netflix Canada's biggest rival, Shomi will offer 12,000 hours of streamable content in its first year, with hundreds of movies and multiple seasons of some of TV's most engaging shows.
Currently free for Rogers and Shaw customers with specific cable TV packages (certain conditions apply), Shomi will cost $8.99 a month for everyone else, after a free trial. Shomi's help section says the best quality stream will consume up to 2.6 gigabytes per hour, while the lowest quality stream goes through up to 700 megabytes an hour. Rogers and Shaw TV customers can also access Shomi through their set-top box, which doesn't incur any data fees.
But what can you watch on Shomi that you can't already watch on Netflix Canada? While many titles are available on Netflix Canada as well, some movies are only viewable on Shomi.
