The Foo Fighters released their new studio album last November but the group might already have new material thanks to a rowdy Chilean crowd.
The rockers were performing in Santiago's Pista Atletica Estadio National last Thursday when the crowd began singing the song before lead singer and guitarist Dave Grohl started, NME.com reports.
"Okay so here's the thing," Grohl says in the video above. "You guys f--king sing every song before I even f--king sing it! Nobody else in the world f--king does that! I think that's some Chile sh-t, I don't know what that is." The crowd then began an "Ole! Ole! Ole! Chile! Chile!" chant for about 30 seconds with Grohl then encouraging them to continue singing.
The singer then started playing his guitar before drummer Taylor Hawkins began with a punk-rock tempo, resulting in Grohl leading the crowd through a punk-ish "Ole! Ole! Ole! Chile! Chile!" "Okay, we got a new Foo Fighters song, I like it," Grohl says before starting the tune back up again. "Sounds like a hit," Grohl said after the song ended.
A second YouTube clip showed what transpired next with the crowd singing "Happy Birthday" to Grohl whose birthday was Jan. 14. You can watch the singing kick off at the 3:50 mark of the video. The band then performed "Big Me" before carrying on with the rest of the show.
According to their site, Foo Fighters continue their tour in support of Sonic Highways with a gig on Jan. 21 in Porto Allegre, Brazil. The group's first Canadian tour dates are a two-night stand in July at Toronto's Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver are the other scheduled Canadian stops this year.
