Princess Charlotte of Cambridge has gone home... but not to any palace.
The four-day-old princess left Kensington Palace Wednesday to spend the first weeks of her life at Anmer Hall, a Georgian mansion located on the Queen's Sandringham estate in Norfolk, reported BBC News.
The 10-bedroom home has been refurbished as Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, prepare to raise both their daughter and Prince George there with the help of a nanny in the coming years.
It has been updated over the past two years with a new roof, driveway and conservatory, said Hello Magazine.
The cost of the repairs has been pegged at £1.5 million (around C$2,753,000), largely paid out of the family's own funds.
The magazine went on to say that Kate's mother Carole is also expected to move into the home to help raise the kids. The royals also have friends living nearby.
William is taking two weeks' paternity leave from working as an air ambulance helicopter pilot and will go into further training in June, reported The Daily Telegraph.
Kate, meanwhile, is expected to spend her maternity leave watching over the children and supervising further renovations to the home, which include turning some wood storage into living quarters for a nanny.
The Telegraph said Princess Charlotte is unlikely to be seen in public again until her christening, which is projected to happen before the royals leave for their summer holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
