After months of unsuccessful negotiations with the province, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) announced that it will begin a work-to-rule campaign on Monday at 2pm.
While this means that students will stay in school, teachers will not conduct standardized testing, write comments in report cards, attend staff meetings, and so on. However, extracurricular activities and field trips will continue as planned.
On Friday, ETFO President Sam Hammond said, “This action is incremental in nature,” meaning a strike could happen in the near future. However, in Peel, Sudbury and Durham, teens have already been out of school for three weeks, since April 20.
