The bit of extra safety for these tiny birds.

The University of Calgary Outdoor Centre has taken some of their mats designed to keep rock climbers safe and turned them into landing pads for several baby geese taking the first leap toward flying.

The pads, set up along the perimeter of the building, are designed to cushion the fall for the goslings. The results were posted to the Outdoor Centre's Facebook page Monday, and the footage is adorable.

We set up crash pads so that the goslings on our roof would have a safe landing. Want to see the cutest thing ever?

Finlay MacNeill, with the Outdoor Centre, told CBC News the goslings hatched on the roof above his office, approximately 15-feet off the ground.

The drop, he said, was not a huge one, "but pretty big for a tiny gosling without any feathers."

If you think these chicks are brave, however, check out this BBC footage of the 400-foot drop made by brave barnacle goslings in Greenland each year.
