Tyra Banks Posts No-Makeup, No-Filter Selfie On Instagram

"Maybe you're thinking, 'Whoa, she looks ROUGH.' And if you are, great!"

Well good morning, Tyra Banks!

The host of "America's Next Top Model" posted a makeup-free, filter-free selfie to rule them all to Instagram on Wednesday.

Her aim was to show the "real me." And she was OK if people thought she looked a little rough.

"You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me," she wrote.

It's not the first time that Banks, a former Sports Illustrated cover model, has shown her real self to the masses.

In 2007, she appeared on "The Tyra Banks Show" in a swimsuit to respond to Australian tabloid allegations that she had gained 40 pounds.

Their evidence was a photo that showed her in the very same swimsuit. Banks responded by saying, "I think it's curvy, I think it's beautiful, I think it is hot, I think it is sexy," to raucous applause from her audience.

And that was hardly the last time she would take on body image. Banks later carried out an experiment in which women were made to go to "Bodyville," a place where they were judged on first impressions, to illustrate how individuals criticize one another.

It's important for influential voices to take on important issues like body image. That makes us all the more thankful that someone like Banks is here to confront them.

As for her morning face, we admit we didn't recognize her when we first saw it.

But there's nothing rough about the way someone looks when they've just rolled out of bed. It's real, and that's the way we like it.
