Superstitions To Keep In Mind When Travelling The World

They may as well ban red pens from Korea.

Don't walk under a ladder. Deal with 13 years of bad luck because of a broken mirror. And never, ever write in red pen in Korea.

Different cultures around the world have their own superstitions, and what might sound strange to one person could be completely normal in another country — which is important to remember before you head out on vacation.

Although most people wouldn't expect foreigners to necessarily know, for example, that you should put sugar in your cup before pouring coffee in Brazil to encourage prosperity, it never hurts to respect others' cultures.

In the infographic below from Lottoland, a lottery site based out of the U.K., they go through a number of superstitions that may be common knowledge to the locals in the country you're visiting, but far from common sense to you. Even better, they explain why they exist — and why you should follow along.
