Earthquakes Near Port Hardy Strike Just Days Apart

Both struck within 200 kilometres of Port Hardy, B.C.

Two earthquakes have struck off the coast of Vancouver Island within 48 hours of each other.

On Friday, a 4.2-magnitude shock hit around 10:30 a.m., according to Natural Resources Canada. The agency said the epicentre was 191 kilometres west of Port Hardy.

It follows a quake that hit 183 kilometres west of the same municipality on Wednesday afternoon. It was measured at a magnitude of 4.8.

The agency said there were no reports of damage and that none would have been expected as a result of either incident.

It added that nothing could felt on the surface in both cases.
