Calgary Pools Go To The Dogs

Dog days of summer for Calgary pooches.

It was truly the dog days of summer in Calgary this long weekend as pet canines had their chance to swim in the city's pools.

Dog Day, now in its fourth year, is an event held by the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pools Association. Four pools across the city marked their summer closure by inviting furry friends to take a dip. Owners were asked to make a donation to the Calgary Humane Society—last year the event raised $800 for the organization.

And while the thought of swimming in dog water may make some a little squeamish, don't worry: the pools will be cleaned before re-opening for humans next year.
