Carmen Carrera Wants To Become The First Victoria's Secret Transgender Angel

A petition to hire Carmen Carrera has reached nearly 50,000 signatures.

Carmen Carrera is on a mission to get her angel wings from Victoria's Secret.

The transgender model, who was born Christopher Roman, wants to become the first trans model for the dazzling lingerie brand, and with the help of her fan base, she could make it a reality. Starting her career as the first openly transgender contestant on "RuPaul's Drag Race", the 30-year-old has gone on to model for Orbitz, W Magazine and ELLE. She was cast by famous photographer, Steven Meisel, to star in his short film and has recently starred alongside Meryl Streep in "Ricki and the Flash."

In an interview with Popsugar, the VH1's "Couple Therapy" star said the top show she would like to walk in is Victoria's Secret.

"I’ve been training so hard," the mother of two said. "I want to do my runway walk in my lingerie. That’s my dream and I won’t ever stop until I make that happen. For me, that would be huge for all those people that supported me."

Carrera, who has 212,000 followers on Instagram, now has over nearly 50,000 signatures on a petition launched by Marco Regalado in 2013 to "Make Carmen Carrera The First Trans VS Model" on change.org.

"By asking Carmen to be a model, Victoria's Secret would show the entire community that they embrace trans patrons. There are so many prejudices toward the trans community, even within the LGBT community, and many trans individuals are not seen as real people. To see a transgender model walk would show that trans women are to be taken seriously and that Angels are selected because of their character and talent. As a brand, Victoria's Secret should feel comfortable marketing towards ALL types of women," Regalado writes in the petition.

The show will be taped in November and according to Yahoo!, Victoria's Secret has yet to respond to Carrera's petition.
