Just because you're counting calories doesn't mean you have to eat salad all day, every day.

And some of these swaps are still a little indulgent. Instead of starting the morning with a starchy bagel, switch it up by having a English muffin. Instead of tuna in oil, look for a tin of tuna in water. You can cut calories during dessert by grabbing a scoop of sorbet instead of ice cream.

When it comes to losing weight, experts at Health.com say cutting as much as 500 calories a day can help you drop a pound a week. To start reducing your calorie intake, look at the chart below for specific swaps, then follow the three steps to success which will help you eat smarter.
