Skeptics who think Remembrance Day is losing its meaning among the younger generation just need to watch this video.
Posted to Twitter by Toronto 680 News reporter Momin Qureshi on November 11, he included the caption: "Best #RemembranceDay moment: Crowd of youngsters gathers around a veteran, asking for autographs."
The unnamed war veteran, who is decked out in his army medals, seems a bit overwhelmed by all the school children swarming him and begging for his signature. However, he graciously asks each one for their name as he signs their pads of paper.
The video is starting to make its rounds on Twitter. "That puts a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat," tweeted one user.
"He deserves every accolade he receives," wrote another.
Remembrance Day ceremonies were held across the country on Nov. 11. Notably, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and thousands of Canadians gathered at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to pay tribute to all those who have fought for our country.
In a statement, Trudeau said: "Members of our Armed Forces -- past and present -- routinely put their lives on the line for our country. They represent the very best of what it means to be Canadian.''
For these school kids, that sacrifice makes veterans worthy of their admiration and respect.
