Shaquille O' Neal Thanks Fort McMurray First Responders In Facebook Clip

A lovely message from the basketball legend.

Shaq loves Fort Mac.

The basketball legend posted a video to his Facebook page Tuesday thanking the firefighters and other first responders battling the vicious wildfires near Fort McMurray, Alta.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You guys are the true heroes," O' Neal said.

"Love you guys. Love Canada. And thank you, you guys are real heroes," he added, before breaking into a mini-rendition of the Canadian national anthem.

It's been over a week since the fires spun out of control and forced the evacuation of more than 80,000 people from the Fort McMurray area. Although roughly 2,400 buildings have been damaged, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley said firefighters valiantly kept the vast majority of the city intact.

"The fast action and the hard work and the dedication and the smarts of these first responders has, it appears, saved almost 90 per cent of the city of Fort McMurray," she said.
