Rachael Finch Child: Model Criticized For Kid-Free Weekends

Because people can be jerks. Sigh.

Every parent would love to have a child-free weekend, but for one Australian mom, that dream is a reality every single week. And now she’s getting flak for it.

Model Rachael Finch and her husband Michael Miziner have a two-year-old daughter named Violet. Every weekend they leave their daughter with Miziner’s mom so that they can be alone and reenergize.

We get our weekend to ourselves,” Finch told Sunday Style magazine. “I think that's incredibly healthy for the relationship. And on Sunday, when we pick her up, we have 100 per cent energy back.”

Since making the statement, Finch has received a significant amount of backlash from the public, who has deemed her a bad and selfish parent.

“Don't have kids if you aren't prepared to be a mother,” said one Instagram user.

Another critic said: “Every weekend? Really? Yep I'm judging your parenting. Grow up and stop being selfish. Aren't weekends for family? Especially your children?!?”

One even chirped: “I guess this photo was taken on a weekday then.”

In response to the negative comments, Finch posted a photo of her and her daughter to Instagram, with a lengthy caption.

“Only the parents of a child truly know what is best and should always have faith in their decisions,” she said. “I value dearly the relationship Violet has with her Grandmother and I believe this is one of the most important and influential relationships growing up.”

While the 27-year-old mom continued to receive negative feedback despite her response, many of her fans also showed their support.

“I cannot believe people are taking time to post nasty horrible things! Get a life!!” one wrote. “Everybody parents differently NO ONE has the right to judge a mother. You do what works for you and that's that.”

“They say it takes a village to raise a child,” another added. “Your little girl is lucky to have so many loving people in her life. Your situation is one many parents wish they could have. A happy balanced life. I think that makes you good parents.”
