Muhammad Ali Clip Shows Why He Earned The Title Of 'The Greatest'

This is how you float like a butterfly.

Heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali famously dubbed himself "The Greatest," and this 10-second clip shows what he meant.

Ali, who was 35 at the time, faced 19-year-old rookie Michael Dokes in a 1977 exhibition fight.

Early on in the match, Dokes backs Ali into a corner and throws an impressive series of punches. But over 10 seconds, Ali darts around at a speed verging on self-induced whiplash, dodging all 21 of the boxer's swings.

The clip helps you understand the fighter's famous 1974 quote,"Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee — his hands can't hit, what his eyes can't see."

Ali was known to put on a show during his fights, often dancing around the ring.

In the Dokes match, he throws in a taunting wiggle of his hips, waiting for his opponent's' next move, and in the full fight video posted to YouTube, he breaks into a full strut at the 2:10 mark after dodging the blows.

Ali died Friday at age 74 after having been hospitalized with respiratory issues earlier this week and after years of battling Parkinson's disease.
