Leave it up to Cirque du Soleil to transport their audiences out of their daily reality and into a dreamworld.
In their latest show "Luzia," the Montreal-based theatre company celebrates an imaginary Mexico as a sensory exploration. Mixing light and rain, the performance relies deeply on its design, and that includes the performers' magnificent costumes.
In the video above, Francis Jalbert, a publicist for "Luzia," walks us through the creation of the costumes.
"Fashion is a part of the experience at Cirque du Soleil," Jalbert says. "We're recreating a feel with these shows."
Part of the feel includes getting wet, a factor for some of the 300 designers at the show's costume Montreal workshop. It's a detail worked into everything from the dresses down to the shoes.
