If you mess with crime author Val McDermid, you better be prepared for a public shaming.

The 61-year-old Scottish writer took down a Twitter troll on Tuesday, after they had made a comment about her being a feminist.

The original tweet, which is now deleted, said: "@valmcdermid I enjoyed some of your books but since discovering that you are a #feminist I've decided not to buy/read any more of them," Mashable reports.

In the perfect reply, the "Splinter the Silence" author responded, "Your loss. You probably struggled with them anyway."

Fellow author and gal pal J. K. Rowling quickly responded to McDermid's tweet adding, "Not to worry, Val, I'll order two of every copy from now on."

Other Twitter users praised McDermid for her comments and many of her fans also fired back at the sexist tweet.

And she also picked up some new followers.

What a boss (like come on, look at this picture).
