By now, you most likely know that the choker is one of the hottest fashion statements of 2016. From celeb It girls to lavish street style stars, everyone and their mother seems to be obsessed with the neck-hugging piece and we're here for that.
So why do we all love this trend so much? Because it's simple.
So simple in fact, that you don't even have to splurge on a necklace that is literally just a piece of suede fabric. You can just wander over to your shoe closet, pick up your pair of Nikes, pull out a shoe string and tie it around your neck.
And that's exactly what university student Katie Rosebrook of Iowa did. And the Internet is going bananas over her simple trick.
After slaying at the club with her shoelace around her neck, Rosebrook took to Twitter to share a snap of her wearing the DIY accessory. And it has been retweeted over 150,000 times in less than a week.
"This choker trend is wild y’all," she captioned the photo. "Wore a shoelace to the bars last night and I’ve never gotten so many compliments thanks Nike, just do it lol."
Yup, this girl is a DIY goddess *slow claps.*

"People kept complimenting me on it," Rosebrook told BuzzFeed. "A girl in the bathroom stopped washing her hands to say how much she loved my choker."
