You may have heard the term being thrown around in conversation, but what does it mean to be asexual?
Asexuality is a sexual orientation and identity, and it means the person doesn't typically experience sexual attraction.
And no, that doesn't mean practicing celibacy.
According to the Asexual Visibility and Education Network, asexuality is an intrinsic part of someone's identity.
"Asexuality does not make our lives any worse or any better, we just face a different set of challenges than most sexual people," the network notes.
"There is considerable diversity among the asexual community; each asexual person experiences things like relationships, attraction and arousal somewhat differently."
There are also many sub-parts to being asexual, and many people still are able to have sex and relationships.
