Newfoundland Man Literally Jumps Out The Window After Massive Gander Snowfall

Poor Newfoundland!

There comes a time in every Canadian's life when they feel like they've been trapped in the house for far too long due to crappy weather.

For one Newfoundland couple that was literally the case, after a huge dump of snow this week left all the doors to their Gander home completely blocked off.

So with little choice, one man navigated his only way out — which was through a window. Because how else are you going to get out there to start shovelling?

Tammy Harris shared the video of her husband climbing out the window in all his winter gear (watch his escape above) as well as a few photos of the steep snowbank that engulfed her house, allowing her to walk up to the roof.

More than 125 centimetres of snow has dumped on Gander since late last week, which has grown the total amount of snow on the ground to 230 centimetres.

Several residents told CBC News it's the most snow they've seen at one time in their small town.

Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil agreed it's all a bit much, even for hardy residents used to severe weather.

On the bright side? Neil said sun and warmer temperatures — "almost in the double digits" — are expected later this week.
