Christmas is a time for traditions, togetherness, recounting memories of Christmas past, and of building new memories. However, Christmas also includes an undeniable commercial element, which involves fulfilling wish lists and finding dazzling presents to put under the tree! With just over one week until Christmas, here are some 2013 Hot Gift suggestions that will make Holiday shopping simple for the young and old on your list!

Rainbow Loom - If you have a little girl aged eight years old or up on your list, she will love the Rainbow Loom bracelet-making kit! What makes this craft fun and trendy, is it allows children and adults alike to make bracelets out of small, colourful rubber bands. At under $19, it will not break the bank. Also popular with some boys, too.

LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra - Kids ages four to nine years old will enjoy the LeapFrog LeapPad Ultra wireless, child-safe learning tablet! Comes with 11 preloaded games and apps, front and rear cameras, video recorder, eReader, MP3 player and art studio. Includes in-unit rechargeable batteries and charger. Priced at about $170.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck Book - For boys (and girls) aged eight to 10 years old, encourage reading with Diary of a Wimpy Kid books by Jeff Kinney. Not only are the eight books in the series hysterical, they make reading more fun with the little cartoons throughout the book. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck was just released last month, and has been very HOT with kids. Hardcover edition is under $13.

Sumo Bumper Boppers - For kids ages four years and up, Sumo Bumper Boppers are giant, (wearable) inflatable rings that allow kids to bump each other to kingdom come while being protected by this inflatable body armour! If you've got wild boys on your list, they can safely unleash testosterone on one another without any physical repercussions. Under $20 each.

Disney Blurays & DVDs - If you have a child on your list and you're not sure what to buy, go with a no-brainer like a Walt Disney Bluray or DVD! This season there are great titles like Mickey's Christmas Carol, Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year, Disney Planes, and Monsters University. Sold everywhere. DVDs are priced around $18, and Bluray/DVD combo packs around $25.

HP Slate 7 Tablet - If you are looking for a "big ticket" item that's also a price performer, consider gifting the HP Slate 7 tablet to that teen or adult on your gift list. At under $150, the Slate 7 gives the iPad mini a run for its money (minis start from $319). Listen to music, email, surf the Internet, watch movies, take photos or videos, read books and magazines, connect to Google+, find locations with the GPS map, download apps and more.

Canada Goose Parka - What sets Canada apart from our American neighbours, is that the entire country freezes itself quite spectacularly in the winter! If you have a heavy wallet, Canada Goose makes parkas for every infant and adult on your list. Personal recommendations include the Grizzly one-piece child's snowsuit, or the Resolution parka for adults. Both feature 625 fill power white duck down for extreme warmth. Infant and kid's snowsuits, $395-$495; men's Resolute parka, $845.

React Mobile Free Safety App - Because showing that you care doesn't mean spending money, load the React Mobile free safety app onto your girlfriend's, mother's, daughter's or friend's iPhone. It's an SOS distress signal, which when pressed, accesses the user's GPS location and sends it to select emergency contacts via text message, or email -- without an attacker knowing. Price tag: free!

Sorel Footwear Winter Boots - I know that I'm not the only Canadian who rejoices at the thought of having warm feet in the wintertime! Sorel Footwear makes boots for toddlers, kids and adults that are perfect for our harsh climates. I recommend Joan of Arctic winter boots for women, Children's Flurry boots for kids, or men's Caribou boots from Sorel. $65 to $190.

Vello Free Group E-greeting App - Looking to send a unique Holiday group greeting? Download the free Vello group e-greeting app, which stitches together multiple videos to form one group e-greeting--wherever in the world you might roam. There is the option to add a gift card (paid). A nice way to get all the university kids together to wish dear old mom and dad a Merry Christmas!
