How Canada Scored on the Active Healthy Kids Report Card

We failed. Active Healthy Kids Canada put out their annual report card, and as a nation, we failed. We need to accept that we have failed. Once we accept it, we now need to decide to get back to living a life built on a desire to be healthy.

We failed. Active Healthy Kids Canada put out their annual report card, and as a nation, we failed.

This is going to be a short, shame on us blog. These are our children we are talking about. I, for one, don't want to see them dying of preventable disease before I do.

My dream is to create a healthy nation, One Fit City at a time. To do that, parents need to be showing their kids how to be healthy.

Adults, when was the last time you played? Not with your kids, but with your friends? Do your children see you running around, being outside, making memories? Or, do they see you sitting on a couch?

We need to get back to being active. There's a lot of must-see TV, and some amazing movies coming out, and don't even get me started on video games, but first comes health. Adults first.

So here is what we need to do. We need to accept that we have failed. The sad part is it's not just this year, it has been a few years in a row. Once we accept it, we now need to decide to get back to living a life built on a desire to be healthy. Be inspired by the Heart and Stroke Foundation's new campaign and decide to start now to ensure your health in the last 10 years of life.

We failed, but we aren't dead yet. It's time to get outside, get active, and start to change the health of the entire nation. The trickle down effect of healthy adults feeding kids healthy food and encouraging a healthy lifestyle will be a generation that goes further scientifically, physically, and creates a planet full of hope. It all starts with health, and finding fun and play again. Trust me, life is better healthy!
