I love cycling. Since I was nine years old, the idea of having the freedom to peddle my bike around the corner made my heart soar. Now at 44, I still love riding my bike just as much.

The friends I make, the view from my seat as I ride around town and chat with other cyclists is the highlight of my day. Cycling has come a long way...in the past few years. Long gone are the days of having to choose between either cycling clothing or day clothes. Now there is a lovely hybrid of urban wear and commuting clothes that can take you from the office to riding around town.

What are the top trends for fall commuter jackets?

The biggest trend in commuter jacket design is a needed update to the look of traditional biking outerwear. There continues to be limited options but the best of the new are taking casual street style and fabric and combining it with all the latest technical features like waterproofing, strategic use of reflective details, stretch, venting etc.

What could be better than a jacket that easily transitions from urban use to riding, to wearing around because it looks good and is very adaptable for the daily commute, casual use or any outdoor adventure -- rain or shine.

What are the hot colours this season for commuter jackets?

A bright colour option only adds to visibility on the road but the hottest commuter colors this season mirror the greater Fall 15 neutral outerwear colour trends like olive green, charcoal, denim, blues and khaki.

What to look for in safety features for fall and winter jackets?

Reflective details are the most obvious safety feature but can be made tonal or used sparingly without looking too sporty. Fit is very important since you don't want outerwear to limit mobility. Commuting by bike can be challenging combined with public transportation & unpredictable conditions. Finding a jacket that has been designed for all-weather, safety, comfort and style in mind is the best.

How to wear a commuter jacket? Top tips to make it look stylish!

If you have a great looking commuter jacket it will be effortless to achieve a stylish look. Looking good on your bike will no longer be an issue if your jacket has great lines and fit, color that goes best with your style. Commuting by bike is far from effortless but that doesn't mean you need to look like you are training for The Tour. Look for a casual jacket that can also be used for riding.

Be yourself! Great style is timeless and individual, not dominated by trend.
