The weather has really changed here in Vancouver and it is looking more and more like spring everyday.

I wanted to find out the latest spring trends for jackets so I spoke with Todd Listwin and Lilian Banh of Mia Melon.

They shared their insights to the latest trends this season for outerwear.

What are the hot style trends for spring?

Lillian says, "My most favourite trend for fashion for spring 2015 that I think would be a big hit are all the layering soft chiffon dresses, soft draped fabrics and open knits. I fell in love with the military inspired soft trenches, sheer skirts, and the modern take on lace."

Soft asymmetrical hem and boyish inspired styles and the festival boho chic look will be prominent in spring 2015. Weatherproof fashion fleece hoodies will be in this spring!

What are the hot colours for spring?

Black and white colours are hot with a splash of electric blue or yellow in an abstract print. We will also see a lot of khaki and more feminine light military colors. There will also be minty blue colors and Hazey purples.

What kind of fabrics will be used for spring outerwear ?

Light wovens used for the loose trench coat and military style. Some nice light georgette or cotton canvas ....something luxurious feeling. I also see a lot of light to medium weight suiting material. Our weatherproof hoodies will have a nice feeling to them while also keeping you warm and dry.

Any other tips about how to care for your jacket?

For most jackets wash in a very gentle cycle (unless the tag says otherwise), cold water and hang dry.

I am going to use these style tips now and as I look forward to spring. I will have a spring in my step!

Please share your comments below. Your suggestions are always welcome, as I continue on my journey to enjoy life to the fullest.
