Do You Know When To Post On Facebook For Your Business?

Facebook is a very busy place these days, most people's newsfeeds are so busy they can hardly keep up and it's so full of marketing and promotional content, it can be really hard to stand out. But, if you know when your fans are on Facebook you can post near to that time to get the best chance of being in their newsfeed while they are looking at it.

There are lots of articles, reports and info-graphics out there telling us when the best time to post on the various social media channels is... and while some of that info might be helpful when you are starting out, it's far too generic to really benefit you on your Facebook page. You need real information about when it's the best time to post on YOUR page... not someone else's. And Facebook gives you that info!

But before we get to that, why is this so important? Facebook is a very busy place these days, most people's newsfeeds are so busy they can hardly keep up and it's so full of marketing and promotional content, it can be really hard to stand out. But, if you know when your fans are on Facebook you can post near to that time to get the best chance of being in their newsfeed while they are looking at it.

Let's face it, if you post and they don't come on until an hour later, they likely won't see your posts, but if you post when the majority of people who like your page are on, you have a better chance of them noticing your posts and engaging with your content.

I like to find the top three or four times that my fans are on and schedule different content to go out on those peaks each day.

So here is how you find out what the best time is for YOU to post on YOUR Facebook page:

Step 1: I want you to go to your business page, click on "Insights" at the top of the page, then click on "posts". Here you will see a screen which shows you when your fans are online. The peaks are highlighted as well as the times when the least number of people who like your page are online. Make note of the top three times your fans are Facebook and use this as a guide for when you schedule your content out.

Step 2: Create a theme for each day of this week for posting. So, for example, I post in the theme of Motivational Monday on Mondays on my page. Tuesday is Twitter Tips Tuesday, you get the idea. They don't have to start with the same letter. This theme is just for you, making a plan of what your content will be for the day will help you be more on top of planning your content and that is the key to success here; never leave it to the last minute to figure out what you are going to post. Set up a tracking sheet so you can track what you posted at what time and make sure to include the number of likes, comments and share you get on each post so you know what more to post and what to post less of.

Step 3: Now schedule one post for each day on your Facebook page, at the peak time your fans are online in the theme of each day. Then do the next time and the next. Three-five times a day seems to be the sweet spot right now and you want to make sure you are leveraging that. Try different types of content, make sure you have a good mix of video, links, text and images to keep from looking boring.

Knowing when to post and then scheduling some of your posts in advance are really big time savers that will free up your time and help you achieve your goals.
