Joseph M. Humire is a global security expert, focusing on the nexus between security, defense and economic freedom. Humire co-founded the Cordoba Group International LLC, a strategic consulting firm that provides premier research and analytical services to clients seeking to engage emerging markets in a competitive and turbulent world. Humire focuses on advising clients on creating security and defense strategies to overcome asymmetric challenges that restrain long-term sustainable economic development.

In addition Humire – a trained economist – is the Executive Director of the Center for a Secure Free Society (SFS), a global think tank based in Washington D.C. that focuses on promoting security and freedom around the world by developing and supporting a growing network of
security specialists focused on the correlation between economics, security, intelligence and defense. Prior to this, Humire was the Director of Institute Relations at the Atlas Economic Research Foundation where he trained and advised a network of more than 300 think tanks in over 85 countries around the world.

Moreover, Humire is an eight-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served combat tours in Iraq and Liberia, as well as multinational training exercises in Latin America.

Humire has published in Fox News, the Washington Times; Small Wars Journal, and the Journal for International Security Affairs; and has appeared on interviews with CNN Español, A Mano Limia of America Teve and the Foro Inter-Americano of Voice of America. Humire has also briefed the U.S. Congress and testified before the Canadian Parliament on a variety of security topics, primarily related to asymmetric threats in Latin America.

Humire holds a degree in Economics and Global Affairs from George Mason University and is fluent in Spanish and English and knowledgeable of Quechua and Portuguese.

When Canada pre-emptively expelled Iran's diplomats from Ottawa and closed its embassy in Tehran last September, some felt this was a hasty move inspired by an overzealous government at best or by pro-Israeli zealots at worst.
