GET UPDATES FROM Julie MacArthur
Julie MacArthur has worked at the Toronto International Film Festival since she was a teenager. Her early love of film and interest in global cultures led her to study film and history at the University of Toronto, and TIFF provided the perfect summer job. In 2004, she moved to the U.K. to pursue postgraduate work in African History.

Receiving her PhD from the University of Cambridge in 2010, she has since taught African history, film and culture at the University of Cambridge, McGill University and the University of Toronto where she currently holds a postdoctoral fellowship. But throughout, she kept coming back to TIFF. After years working her way up the ranks in the Guest Relations Office, learning the organization from the inside out, in 2006 she moved into the programming team. As a Programming Associate for Artistic Director Cameron Bailey and International Programmer Rasha Salti, she assists in the screening and selection of films, organizing social events and hosting the filmmakers and talent who attend the Festival.
