Why Women Hate Anne Hathaway: A Man's Perspective

From a guys perspective it makes no sense to compare Jennifer to Anne. Simply because one is a Jennifer, and the other one is an Anne. That's just the way it is. Can they both exist, walk the red carpet, win an Oscar and call it a gorgeous night? Not really.

I have to admit that after I read the article from NY Mag's "The Cut" entitled:

Why Do Women Hate Anne Hathaway (But Love Jennifer Lawrence)?

I was disturbed.

The first thing that disturbed me was the title.

All presumption, speculation, conclusion, deduction and generalizations aside

I found the title's mischievous propaganda completely fan flaming (excuse the pun)

or... excuse the punishment of someone that just may be too perfect?

I wonder what result the writer was trying to achieve by

1. comparing 2 actresses that have 2 very different audiences

and 2. Pitting Blonde against Brunette once again?

Betty vs Veronica.

So let's talk about comparison for a second.

Why do we compare?

Scientifically, comparison helps us to observe a person, place or thing.

Even if we compare apples to oranges, it is from this comparative speculation we comprehend

that apples have certain qualities and that oranges have other certain qualities.

In short, if you are intelligent and trying to understand the world around you, comparison is inevitable.

Why do we compare people, though?

We all do it, and I think deep down inside we all know it's wrong.

Why is our society so obsessed with publicly liking and disliking things?

I think the answer to that question as with most existential query -- has a lot to do with how we feel about ourselves.

How DO we feel about ourselves?

Is the world becoming more real?

Or are we just real lazier?

Does it make more sense to embrace a person that already seems similar to who we are

rather than cramming to fathom what takes time to understand?

Maybe people are just equations.

What if every human being is a mathematical equation waiting to be solved.

Not everyone is 1 + 1 = 2

and still not everyone is z2-z3)^2 = 4(z3-z1)(z1-z2) sin^2 alpha/2

but we all are human beings.

Or are we?

From a guys perspective it makes no sense to compare Jennifer to Anne

simply because one is a Jennifer, and the other one is an Anne.

That's just the way it is.

Can they both exist, walk the red carpet, win an Oscar and call it a gorgeous night?

Not really.

For then in come the bloggers -- the jockers -- and the outline in chalkers

killing the buzz for all of us by picking one over the other, when the truth is

they both got picked that evening because they BOTH walked away with Oscar hardware!

Is this a problem for women?

For the world?

Having more than one IT girl?'

Is a girl an 'it' ?

I most certainly think at times in the entertainment industry she must be

but I also think the objectifying and comparing of celebrity for the sake of subversive self-promotion

with the notion of making ourselves feel better about who we are -- is definitely "Not Gloria Steinem!"

It may be Madonna... but it's certainly not Virgin Mary.

We needs to Mocktail this auspicious occasion and put a red cherry on top.

Red like the blood coarsing through the veins of people wanting to be in the spotlight and then disliking those whom they feel shouldn't be allowed to arrive there.

It's a sad internet world.

The Internal Net of self-doubt inspiring blog comments that band-aid our secret inner turmoil.

We all do it, though.

We all need to feel we are as good as the people on our TV, YouTube or Facebook

when in fact those people are just reflections of us.

Every human is every other human being at a different point in evolution -- not so?

Just like the earth is on its way to becoming a Super Nova

which is probably the reason we are all so burning to shine.

I don't know what to tell ya or sell ya.

Art has become a phone application.

GOD is dead in an atheist's world.

As a result, people have just ended up worshipping themselves.

Or versions and reflections of themselves like Siamese Twins twitterin

voodoo dolls with blackberry pins stuck in them.

Slack Magic

WHEN YOU COMPARE A LIVING THING TO ANOTHER LIVING THING

YOU ARE COMPARING 2 GROWING THINGS -- AND BY THE TIME YOU PRESS ENTER

TO POST YOUR COMPARISON OF THE LIVING THING YOU MAY SMITE DOWN VERBALLY

-- THAT VERY LIVING THING MAY HAVE CHANGED OR EVOLVED IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE!

This is what human beings are.

We evolve.

So why hate on Jennifer?

And why hate on Anne?

When in reality there is no such thing as "hating" at all.

There are just people who struggle with the reflection they see of themselves in people, places and things.

And it is for this very reason I believe comparing living things to one another is like touching your nose while washing your face.

ELO...
