With the average price of a detached home out of most first-time buyers' reach, those with less than $1 million to spend have a few options. A lot of people are becoming creative with their buying power and choosing to utilize more unusual or unconventional options to solve the issue of affordability.
My dad is artistic. He creates really beautiful fishing flies. Just mention his work of fly tying and watch his eyes light up. Sit a moment as he winds his threads and here him talking to himself passionately about what he is doing. When he says otherwise, it makes me wonder: Who told my dad that he's not artistic? What made him think that?

I have a challenge for all creatives out there. Start with "no." Begin all of your presentations about campaigns and concepts assuming that every single person in the room is going to object. Don't get defensive or offended. "Nos" are healthy. Assume no one believes you. Back up all of your assumptions with data, examples and hard facts.
I was introduced to Minecraft by my son, who was nine at the time. I would ask him to stop watching Minecraft videos, which he seemed addicted to. When he started playing, I asked him to get off the computer and get outside. All parents do this, but few of us take the time to truly understand what it is our kids are really doing on that computer. Well my son, now 10, has taught me a huge lesson.
Every July, around 10 Canadian universities scattered across the country play host to 500 students from all provinces/territories and even internationally. Although the program is for open-minded high school students who are not afraid to delve into any subject and become challenged or inspired in ways they never thought possible in one month, I hope to break the stereotype that this is "nerd camp". My program consisted of 56 total Shads and we lived in residence at the university.
