"Mommy! Daddy! I had a nightmare!" These words can make your heart sink. How does a parent get inside their child's head and "protect" them from the "boogyman?" The answer is, frankly, you can't. But there IS a way to help your child learn how to face their nightmares.

The summer is a great time for doing some thinking and once you have put some thought into your vision for the future, the next steps are to identify and evaluate your priorities and create a realistic plan that will move you forward in these areas. In order to achieve this, I offer a simple and practical structure to get you going.
Our dreams are a way for us to process our waking world while we sleep. The things we haven't dealt with, consciously or subconsciously, often come to light in the dream-state where it feels safer to deal with them. There are four types of dreams I would like you to consider.
Dreaming has taken us to the moon and Mars. It has given us automobiles, movies, books, the iPhone and Facebook. Humans can live longer, healthier lives thanks to dreaming. It is the spirit of the dream that propels us forward. I confess: I am a dreamer myself.
Why do people think that others want to hear about their dreams? We all have them. Doesn't that cancel out each other's interest in them? But relaying dreams is like trying to use sign language on the blind. This painful ritual happens to almost everyone every morning of all our lives. We get it -- dreams are bizarre. Big deal.
