Our kids are often most receptive to advice when it starts at home. The best time to begin is now. For example, even preschoolers are ready to start thinking about finances. If they know mommy or daddy goes off to work, they can understand why -- the answer is to earn money.
As mayor, I am often asked what the key ingredients are that make Markham one of the most vibrant and successful municipalities in Canada. The answer is simple. Diversity is Markham's strength. Professionals, business executives, retail operators and skilled trades persons come to our city from all over the world.
Today the UK chancellor announced that the head role at the Bank of England would go to none other than the current Bank of Canada Governor, Mark Carney. The bet is that Carney can wave the same magic wand for the UK, though it's going to take more than a doctorate from Oxford to overcome the relatively larger challenges facing that country versus Canada, with its proximity to a troubled Eurozone.
