While you lounge on the beach or go on that sightseeing tour, a housekeeper — most likely a woman — is doing backbreaking work.
It's a position that the public can easily support by refusing to patronize commercial sled dog tours and races. Dogs don't need to be mythologized. They just need to be loved, respected, treated well and given the chance to express their full range of behaviours.

India may have thrown off the yoke of colonialism over 60 years ago, but we continue our own oppression. It's easier to point the finger, or show the finger, when the 'other' is distinctly different in terms of geography, skin color, language, and culture. It's more difficult, and perhaps more shameful, to accept ourselves as the oppressor and the exploiter.

If you and your teen aren't comfortable talking about sexting, talk to them about online safety by reminding them not to share personal information online -- like their real name, age, or phone number, or any other identifying information such as where they live, or the name of their high school. This includes anything that might show up in the background of a photo. And make sure they understand that there can be a risk in talking to strangers online -- not everyone is who they might seem.
