Over the past few years, several studies have been published examining thousands of women with breast cancer to see if there is an association. Their conclusion? Soy does not fuel estrogen-sensitive cancers. In those studies, soy showed no adverse effects, did not interfere with drugs given to inhibit estrogen and in fact was associated with better outcomes.
Chia seeds are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and omega-3 fats. They come from a flowering plant in the mint family grown in Mexico, and were a staple in the diet of the ancient Mayans and Aztecs. Chia seeds were thought to have magical powers. Aztec soldiers would grind up the seeds and eat them for a boost of energy to sustain them over long periods of time. I add them to oatmeal, salads, granola, and baking.
I am not asking people to be perfect. Weight loss is all about getting the first 10 pounds off, finding motivation in the new energy, and the results. I am asking for smart decisions and to make getting to your cravings difficult. Have water close by, eat regularly to avoid sugar crashes and cravings for sugar, put fibre in your diet.
