Since opening its doors in March this year, Cresta has sought to introduce Torontonians to a new concept. Rory West, the head bartender and sommelier, informs me that Cresta is the only restaurant in the city that designs the food menu around the wine list -- not the other way around.
Boorish foodies are in the news! Without trying to, the casual food blogger can be flippant and cause a lot of harm to restaurants, whereas professional critics write their reviews after going to the restaurant twice. In other words, they bring nothing to the table, they just eat from it. Anybody can do that. But it must be remembered that bloggers can crush a restaurant.
I was stunned and saddened to learn that food blogger Jennifer Perillo's husband passed away, leaving Jennie a devastated widow and single parent to their two daughters. Within hours I could see a flood of tweets asking the same questions over and over again: "How can we help? What can we do for Jennie?"
