The Ontario Government Needs a Lesson in How Energy Markets Work

Does Ontario's Minister of Energy Bob Chiarelli understand how electricity markets work? Or is he deliberately sabotaging negotiations with Quebec to justify Ontario spending billions on nuclear power?Nuclear power is a bad choice for our financial future. Nuclear power is a bad choice for our energy future. It's time for the Liberals to wake up from their nuclear dream, and get down to the business of providing Ontario with safe, secure, and affordable electricity.

Canada's Democracy Is Not For Sale

Citizens vote, not corporations or unions. Yet, if you look at who funds Ontario's three old-line parties at Queen's Park, you might think otherwise. Canadian democracy week is the perfect time to tell politicians at Queen's Park that our democracy should not go to the highest bidder. The Risky Enbridge Pipeline That Will Hurt Ontario

Line 9 is a 38-year-old pipeline running between Sarnia and Montreal. It runs through 115 communities and under prime farmland, and crosses major river systems that flow into Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. Ontario's Nuclear Budget Is a Money Meltdown

Before you invest in a house or a car you look at your available options. You weigh the pros and cons to see what has the best bang for your buck and you make your choice. The Liberal government has already wasted millions re-locating gas plants and now they are set to spend billions on nuclear. We can and must do better.

I'm Not in Politics to Play the Game

As leader of the Green Party, I've been told that I need to play the partisan political game better. Well, I disagree. I'm not in this to play the game, I'm in this to change the game. Good ideas and long-term solutions need to be the priority at Queen's Park.

On My Wish List This Year? A Food System That Works

It's a sad reality that as we gather with our families and friends this holiday season to share a meal, there are far too many who will go hungry. A healthy food system benefits our economy, health and communities. It enriches our quality of life. Let's put reducing hunger and a strong local sustainable food system at the top of our wish list for 2013.

Ontario Green Vote Projected to Drop

Why bother to vote Green if the Liberal Premier is already acting on green initiatives? Because Green voters should not forget this: McGuinty may dress in green clothing when it's in style, but that may not reflect who he is.
