I am delighted to wish a very happy first birthday -- or bon anniversaire -- to HuffPost Quebec! And I am so proud of how much you've grown under the leadership of your Éditeur et rédacteur en chef Patrick White. So, to celebrate the occasion, I wanted to highlight some of the impressive accomplishments in your first year.

Watching the Watchdog: Conrad Black and the Art of the Interview

Conrad Black was once the world's third biggest newspaper magnate. Then he lost his newspapers and spent three years in an American prison for fraud and obstruction of justice. During that time he wrote a book, A Matter of Principle. Now he's in England flogging the book. Highlight so far is his interview on the BBC TV program Newsnight with acerbic host Jeremy Paxman. Talk about a clash of egos.

HuffPost Canada Rocks COPA Awards!

Last night I stood in the kind of hip club space I haven't visited since my 20s, jammed with nominees for the annual Canadian Online Publishing Awards. That spirit of course imbues our own upstart site here at HuffPost Canada, which was nominated for no fewer than eight awards. You can imagine how proud I was, as the former Managing Editor of Blogs here, to see our talented writers walk away with both the Gold and Silver awards for Best Blog in the daily and weekly newspapers, and broadcasters category.

Going Coastal: Introducing HuffPost British Columbia

Arianna Huffington | Posted 10.16.2012 | Canada British Columbia
Arianna Huffington

I'm delighted to announce the launch of HuffPost Alberta and HuffPost British Columbia, which will bring HuffPost's signature mix of news, blogging, community, and social engagement to these western provinces. From Alberta and British Columbia's vast energy industry and environmentalist traditions to First Nations lands and the Northern Gateway pipeline, these new Canadian editions will tell the stories that need to be told -- and, just as importantly, help those in Alberta and British Columbia tell their stories themselves. As the HuffPost family grows -- it was just last month that we welcomed HuffPost Canada Impact -- we can't wait to see how these new editions will start conversations around the stories that get to the heart of each province's identity, and those that will decide their future.

Sparking a Flame: Introducing HuffPost Canada Impact

Arianna Huffington

I'm delighted to announce the launch of HuffPost Canada Impact. Impact has always been a key part of HuffPost's DNA, and our goal of starting conversations and inviting our readers to connect, engage, and make a difference in the lives of others is perfectly captured by HuffPost Canada Impact's motto: "One story can spark a flame, one person can make a difference." As HuffPost continues to expand internationally, and as our ability to connect and engage with others becomes less and less constrained by borders, we believe Impact has tremendous potential to helps us all widen the circle of our caring. In Canada, there's no better time than now to use all the tools at our disposal to widen that circle.
