A few months ago, a lovely little birdie (aka my smart, insightful sister) told me something that I took to heart. She said "You don't want to be the reason you fail." If I work so hard and burnout, I will not be able to build a successful company.
I was very sad and nervous and couldn't explain why; I had a great job and wonderful friends. I now know that it wasn't just a phase I was going through, I had mild anxiety which brought on occasional depression.
Eventually, as we grow older, we have to choose between becoming bitter over our failures and shortcomings or making peace with our reality. If we succeed at the latter, a state of calmness, serenity, and even genuine happiness can emerge.
Today, people who meditate are seen as progressive and open-minded. Whatever term we may use to describe them, they are generally loving, kind, generous, insightful, and willing to help others achieve the same rich and fulfilling lives they have.
As we get older, we experience significant life changes, which can be tough to deal with. Without good coping skills, these changes can be the sources of much worry and unhappiness.
