Weight loss isn't as easy as those before and after photos may make it seem. There is no one food (or drink, more like) that's going to sculpt your abs and give you buns of steel. Yep, lot's of quotation marks around here, guys, and you know what that means.

This cleanse is really the easiest thing I have ever done. I chose to do it while I was on vacation with my family, but it is equally amenable to a cooler, snowier climate. It helped me shed pounds, increase my focus and re-invigorate my passion for career and family. Do you want in?
Juice bars are popping up everywhere, offering "healthy" juices and smoothies to aid in weight loss and help with energy and longevity. Before you completely buy into the green smoothie craze, it's important for you to know how to distinguish between a healthy green smoothie and an unhealthy one.
Thinking rationally, I know that the feeling of control that a cleanse offers is fleeting, even false, but I wanted to feel like I was closing the door on old (less than ideal) habits, and opening the door to new (more ideal) habits. I wanted a clean slate.

For the longest time I thought I was eating healthy. A piece of fruit each day and vegetables with dinner. I was really active with biking, yoga and hiking, but not losing any weight. Carbohydrates secretly sabotaged my diet. Then last January, I decided to turn to more of a protein-based diet. I did lose weight fast, but after a discussion with a person who eats a plant-based diet, I quickly learned that high protein was not sustainable or good for my health in the long term.

I know you may be thinking, isn't just drinking juice in general better than no juice at all? Well, there is something to be said about that, as it's better than what most people are drinking daily (soda, sugared coffees and pasteurized juice). However if you are making the effort to enhance your health, then you may as well go the full length and do it right!
I had hoped to write an article about how awesome the cleanse was, how great I felt afterward, how yes, I was a bit hungry but thinking of how many toxins I had flushed out was gratification enough. Unfortunately, I'll never get to write that article because I failed. I failed hard and miserably.
