In a buyer's market, job seekers have to be the world's best salespeople. You have to spark an interest, craft your pitch, and prove the worth of your top product: you. If you can't sell yourself as the best and brightest for the job, you'll never close the deal. Not a natural sales person? That's OK.

As someone with ADHD, who grew up with reading difficulties, sitting down with a book was never my go-to pastime. I preferred hands-on learning over classroom education -- so when I traded in my textbooks to run my own business, I don't think anyone was surprised. But even though I believe experience is the best teacher, there are always opportunities to learn from the experts (whether you're in startup or 30 years into your business).

Plan, plan and then plan a little more.
For our COO Erik Church, it's a five-hour flight. He lives in Toronto and works in Vancouver, putting 2,000 miles between home and the office. From his perspective, his flights offer him a rare luxury he'd never find at the office: 10 hours a week of focused work, free from interruption. He believes anyone can do the same.

I've managed to cut the costs in my bathroom by over $1000 a year (true story!). By switching out your cleaning products, personal products and cosmetics for DIY natural alternatives, you save money and expose your family to fewer chemicals. Add to that your energy-efficient and water-saving savvy and you get a greener, healthier home.
And you only need two ingredients!
As the saying goes: necessity is the mother of invention.

I'm a green queen, but I've always been surprisingly complacent about the cost and environmental impact of my laundry. After learning how harmful the chemicals in detergents and softeners are, I examined my laundry habits and was pleased as punch to find that I could be much greener and save a bunch of money in the process.

Artists can teach you everything you need to know about being creative. Don't worry, don't get your Dockers in a twist. You don't need to actually sculpt or paint or perform an expressive dance. You just have to think like those who do.

I often say that there is no magic wand to get you organized. And there isn't. But there are a few tricks you can use to maximize the space that you already have that can seem like magic (kind of). I recently reorganized a client's kitchen and we cleared out no less than eight junk drawers.
What was the reason for my inability to learn how to use the food processor? I had assembled complicated furniture from IKEA, overcame a fear of heights with indoor rock climbing lessons, and tackled claustrophobia by entering our three-foot crawl space.

In a job interview, employers will be looking to see how savvy you are, how confident you are, and how personable you are. There will be some questions about your work experience and skills, of course, but if the prospective employer didn't think you could do the job, they wouldn't waste time interviewing you. What they really want to see is how you handle pressure. How well you can communicate. If they like you. And that decision is made quickly, often in their very first impression.
